Euphorbia dauana is a species of the genus spurge ( Euphorbia ) in the family of Euphorbiaceae (Euphorbiaceae).
description
The succulent Euphorbia dahana grows as a sparsely branched shrub up to a height of 1 meter. Fibrous roots are formed and the main shoots occasionally climb. The square branches are up to 1 centimeter thick and have clear spots. On the edges of the branches there are protruding teeth at a distance of 2 centimeters from each other. The dark brown and elongated thorn shields are up to 15 millimeters in size and stand individually, in exceptional cases they can touch. Thorns up to 15 millimeters and secondary leaf thorns up to 5 millimeters in length are formed.
The single and simple cymes stand on stems about 2.5 millimeters long. The cyathia reach 5.5 millimeters in diameter. The elongated nectar glands are colored yellow and touch each other. Nothing is known about the fruits and seeds.
Distribution and systematics
Euphorbia Dauana is widespread in the northeast of Kenya and is only known there from the area around the type location. The plants grow on limestone surfaces in the Acacia forest at an altitude of about 400 meters.
The species was first described in 1987 by Susan Carter Holmes .
