Hans Van Bylen

Hans Van Bylen (born April 26, 1961 in Berchem , Belgium ) is a Belgian manager . He was from May 2016 to December 2019 Chief Executive Officer ( CEO ) of Henkel and since September 2018 President of the German Chemical Industry Association . On October 24, 2019, Henkel announced that Hans Van Bylen would be leaving the company at the end of 2019 and that Carsten Knobel , who was Henkel’s CFO at the time, would become the new CEO on January 1, 2020.

education

Van Bylen studied business administration at the University of Antwerp and graduated with a diploma in economics and a master of business administration (MBA). He completed other management development programs, including a. at Harvard Business School . In addition to Dutch, he is also fluent in English, German and French.

Career

Van Bylen joined Henkel in Belgium in 1984 as a product manager. After positions in marketing for detergents and cosmetic products, he took on responsibility for various business areas and countries and regions. In 2005 Van Bylen became a member of the management and was Executive Vice President responsible for the Beauty Care business. In May 2016, he was appointed CEO of Henkel, succeeding Kasper Rorsted , who moved to the sporting goods manufacturer adidas . In June 2016, under his leadership, Henkel took over the US detergent group Sun Products for 3.2 billion euros. In November 2016, he presented the new corporate strategy (Henkel2020 +). Hans Van Bylen was a member of various bodies in the USA and Germany. He has been President of the Chemical Industry Association since September 28, 2018 .
