Casatus is an impact crater in the extreme south of the front of the moon , immediately south of the Klaproth crater , the edge of which it partially covers. The rim of the crater is heavily eroded, the interior is mostly flat except for the secondary crater C.

The crater was officially named by the IAU in 1935 after the Italian Jesuit, mathematician and astronomer Paolo Casati .
