The Casoria Contemporary Art Museum (CAM) is a museum in Casoria in the Italian province of Naples . The idea for the museum was born in 2003 at the suggestion of the municipality of Casoria and the Campania region, as part of a regional revitalization campaign called Una città per l'arte. The museum was inaugurated in 2005, directed by Antonio Manfredi, President of the non-profit International Contemporary Art Center. The museum has an exhibition area of 3,500 m 2 . This is mainly dedicated to the permanent exhibition of several thousand works by international artists. In April 2012, the museum burned works from its exhibition to protest austerity measures. These were introduced as a result of the Italian sovereign debt crisis and have a particularly detrimental effect on the financing of art by private individuals .
