The Caspary Brewery was a beer brewery in Trier .

history

The founder Johann Baptist Caspary (1796–1885) worked in the brewery and vinegar factory in Bernkastel . On September 26, 1826, one day after his marriage to Angelika Day, he founded a brewery at Krahnenstrasse 680 Trier.

In 1862 the new brewery facility with brewery bar was put into operation in Fahrstrasse 13-14. At the same time, Johann Baptist Caspary handed over management to his son Anton Caspary. Anton Caspary learned the brewing trade at various breweries in the Bavarian Palatinate , in the Grand Duchy of Baden and in the Kingdom of Bavaria . In Munich he found a job at Stubenvoll Bräu Munich.

The brewery became too small due to the high demand, so Anton Caspary built a new brewery and malt house in Trier-Heiligkreuz in 1873–1875. In 1921 the brewery was converted into a limited partnership. The Caspary brewery had an output of 93,000 hectoliters in 1925.

In 1935 the brewery was converted into a limited liability company. After the war, the Caspary brewery resumed operations as a limited partnership in 1948, and from 1973 to 1977 the brewery became a GmbH again.

After the sale in 1978 to the Binding brewery belonging to the Dr. Oetker Group , the brewing business was discontinued in 1983. Today there is a residential area on the brewery premises, only the street names "Anton-Caspary-Straße", "Gambrinusstraße" and "Im Hopfengarten" as well as the names of the restaurants "Der Hopfengarten" and "Zum alten Brauhaus" indicate that there was one Brewery was.
