The Cassibile (Greek Κακύπαρις) is a river in Sicily .

It rises near Palazzolo Acreide on Monte Porcari in the Monti Iblei at an altitude of approx. 567 m and runs through the Free Consortium of Syracuse . It flows into the Mediterranean at Avola .

In its course the river created a gorge almost 10 km long and up to 250 m deep, the Cava Grande. The gorge northwest of the river mouth is characterized by waterfalls and small lakes. It has been declared a nature reserve Riserva naturale orientata Cavagrande del Cassibile .
