Cassidian ParaLander
The ParaLander is a load paraglider system for the dropping of loads from aircraft , which maneuvers the payload to a specified location by means of a navigation and control system. The ParaLander was developed and manufactured by the then EADS subsidiary Cassidian .

The ParaLander is a modular unit consisting of a screen and control unit that can be attached to various payloads. The navigation system receives the position information from a GPS receiver . Based on this data and the desired landing point, the mission planning unit calculates a suitable trajectory . The resulting control commands are passed on to the control lines of the glider via servomotors . In this way, the parachute with the payload is directed to the target. A laser rangefinder monitors the height above ground before landing and initiates a braking maneuver at the appropriate time before touchdown, which brakes the movement of the glider and thus enables a landing without damage to the load.

The Bundeswehr procured five ParaLander systems for use in Afghanistan . In March 2011, the ParaLander was approved by the Wehrtechnische Dienststelle 61 as an unmanned aircraft of category I.
Executions
The ParaLander is currently offered in version L1000 (1,000 kg). Further versions for 300 kg and 6,000 kg are being developed or planned.
