Castle Island ( Māori : Ngututu ) is a small island in the Waikato region off the North Island of New Zealand . It is located in the Pacific off the east coast of the Coromandel Peninsula , about 14 km east of Hot Water Beach . The rocky island rises steeply from the sea and reaches a height of 59 meters.
