Castle Newe
Castle Newe was a fortified country house in Strathdon in the Scottish county of Aberdeenshire .
Archibald Simpson (1790–1847) had it built in 1831 on the basis of an old residential tower with a Z-shaped floor plan from 1604. It had square towers, similar to Glenbuchat Castle .
The country house was demolished in 1927 and the blocks used to build Elphinstone Hall , a building belonging to the University of Aberdeen . Castle Newe's former coach house is now called the House of Newe ; there you can see furniture from the former country house. Castle Newe belonged to the Forbes clan .
