Castlecraig, Black Isle

Castlecraig , also known as Craig Castle or Castle Craig , is a 16th century fortress on the north coast of the Black Isle in the Scottish administrative division of Highland . It is located on the south coast of the Cromarty Firth , 3 miles northeast of Culbokie and 12 miles north of the city of Inverness . Historic Scotland had listed the castle as a Category A Historic Building until 2015. It is also classified as a Scheduled Monument .

Castlecraig is the ruin of a residential tower . The northeast wing is intact and still has its roof, but the northwest wing has collapsed. The tower may have served as the residence of Bishop von Ross after the Reformation.
