The Castor Rock ( English ) is a cliff rock off the George V coast in the Australian Antarctic Territory . It belongs to the Mackellar Islands in the Commonwealth Bay and lies east of Cape Denison .
Participants of the Australasian Antarctic Expedition (1911-1914) under the direction of the Australian polar explorer Douglas Mawson discovered him. It is named after one of the sled dogs on the research trip. Its namesake, in turn, is one half of the brothers Kastor and Pollux from Greek mythology.
