Catacamas is a city in Honduras . It is located 210 kilometers east of Tegucigalpa in the Olancho department in the so-called Valle de Olancho . The city is 450 meters above sea level and had 44,198 inhabitants in 2010.

Northeast of Catacamas is Dulce Nombre de Culmí , to the west is Juticalpa (about 30 minutes by car). To the north is San Esteban, separated by a mountain range. About 5 km east of the city runs the Río Talgua , which leads to the Talgua caves. Surrounded by the city, the Río Catacamas flows in the western part of the city, which also serves as the main source of water supply.

The crime and homicide rate in Catacamas is high.
