history

The cathedral was built on a plot of land that previously housed three temples of the indigenous people from different eras.

Over time the church has had three different names. At first it was named San Miguel Ixhuatlán and later San Miguel Ahuilizapan , before it was given its name, which is still valid today, after the patron saint of Orizaba, the Archangel Michael .

The church consists of three naves and is 62.5 meters high at its highest point in the interior, in which there are works by Miguel Cabrera .
