Catfish and the Bottlemen
Catfish and the Bottlemen are a British indie rock - band .
Band history
Van McCann, the singer and songwriter originally from Australia, founded the band Catfish and the Bottlemen in 2010 in the Welsh seaside resort of Llandudno together with guitarist Bill Bibb and bassist Benji Blakeway. The line-up was later completed with Bob Hall on drums. In the early years they were on the road as a live band and occasionally released singles in their own production until they signed with the London label Communion , which Ben Lovett co-founded in 2013 . Lovett is a member of Mumford & Sons . A number of singles appeared there, including Kathleen and Cocoon , who missed the UK charts but made the rock charts in the USA. Both songs were awarded silver two and three years later for 200,000 units sold.
In September 2014 the band released their debut album The Balcony , in which Johnny Bond had taken over the guitar instead of Bibby. The album went straight to number 10 on the British charts and was also able to place in the US charts . Just three months later, the band received the “Introducing Award” as New Discovery of the Year at the first ever BBC Music Awards . The album stayed in the charts for more than two years, with brief interruptions, and went platinum. In early 2016, they received the British Breakthrough Act award at the BRIT Awards .
The debut album was still in the UK charts when the second album The Ride followed in spring 2016 . Thus increasing Catfish and the Bottlemen to No. 1 on the charts in their homeland, in Australia they reached 6th place in the US place in other countries such as Switzerland, they were 28 successful. Three songs on the album hit the UK single charts, two of which, Soundcheck and 7 , were also successful in the US rock charts .
