The Balcony is the debut album of the Welsh indie rock - band Catfish and the Bottlemen . It was released in September 2014 and peaked at number ten on the UK album charts. It also made it into the charts in the USA and Australia.

Reviews

Overall, the album was rated average and received very differently. On metacritic.com it received 52 out of 100 possible points from the critics, based on six reviews. The user ratings are better with 7.1 out of 10 points.

Scott Kerr from AllMusic praised the mix of poppy sound and hymn-like choruses with the garage rock style at the same time . However, he described the texts as sometimes rough. He awarded 3.5 out of 5 stars.

The Guardian's album Harriet Gibsone was more critical . She criticizes the clumsiness and lack of elegance expressed in the texts. However, she said the album was lively and energetic, and it was produced to a high quality. The album got 2 out of 5 stars.

Others

An edited version of the song Cocoon was featured in the soundtrack of the video game FIFA 15 . In the music video for Hourglass, Scottish actor Ewan McGregor starred alongside Van McCann as the leading actor.
