Cathleen Sutherland

Cathleen Sutherland (born in Austin , Texas, United States) is an American film producer. She was nominated for an Oscar at the 2015 Academy Awards for her work on the film Boyhood .

Sutherland grew up in Austin but moved from home at 15 to attend Houston High School for the Performing and Visual Arts . In 1985, she appeared in a small role in the film of retribution Time ( The Legend of Billie Jean with).

In the second year of production by Richard Linklaters Boyhood , she became production manager. When one of the film producers left the project, she also became a producer.

She is a single mother with a daughter who is the same age as the main actor, Ellar Coltrane . When Sutherland took up the job as production manager, she also resumed her studies to complete it. In 2004 she received her bachelor's degree from the University of Texas . Based on her own experiences, she says, she can find herself in the characters in the film.

Matt Lankes, her brother, documented the production of Boyhood, which lasted more than 12 years, photographically.

Sutherland lives in Austin.
