Ceivães is a place and a former municipality in northern Portugal .

history

The parish has long been part of the Valadares district . With the administrative reform of 1855, the Valadares district was dissolved and Ceivães came to Monção district. With the administrative reform of 2013 , the Ceivães municipality lost its independence and was merged with Badim to form the new Ceivães e Badim municipality .

Ceivães was the seat of an eponymous ( freguesia ) in the district ( concelho ) of Monção , in the district of Viana do Castelo . The community had 487 inhabitants (as of June 30, 2011).

As part of the territorial reform in Portugal on September 29, 2013, the municipalities Ceivães and Badim were merged to form the new municipality União das Freguesias de Ceivães e Badim . Ceivães is the seat of this newly formed community.
