Celia Thomas, Baroness Thomas of Winchester MBE (born October 14, 1945 ) is a British politician of the Liberal Party and later the Liberal Democrats , which has been a member of the House of Lords since 2006 .

Life

Celia Thomas, who became a member of the Liberal Party in Winchester in the 1960s , worked in the Whips office of the Liberal Party between 1977 and 2005 and was most recently head of the office from 1997 to 2005. During this time, she also became chairwoman of the Liberal Summer School in 2001 , from which the Keynes Forum emerged . She has been Vice President of the Lloyd George Society since 2005 and was also a member of the executive board of the independent liberal think tank CentreForum between 2006 and 2009 .

On May 26, 2006, Celia Thomas, who is also President of the Liberal Democrats in Winchester, was raised to the nobility as a peeress with the title Baroness Thomas of Winchester , of Winchester in the County of Hampshire, and has since been a member of the House of Lords on. During this time she was between 2007 and 2010 spokesperson for the Group of the Liberal Democrats in the House for Work and Pensions.
