The Celle Garrison Museum is a military museum in Celle , Lower Saxony .

history

The museum is supported by the Celler Garrison-Museum eV , founded in 1981 , which opened the museum in 1986 in the former Cambridge Dragoons barracks . In 1998 the museum moved to its current domicile, the former administration building of the city slaughterhouse.

Exhibition concept

The aim of the museum is to present the military history from 1866 to the present in connection with the city history of Celle. The period before 1866 is shown in the Bomann Museum . The reason is the annexation of the Kingdom of Hanover by Prussia this year, so that the military history is treated separately. In addition, the two museums work closely together.
