Cemetery Flats

The Cemetery Flats (from English cemetery 'graveyard' ) are a level on the east coast of Signy Island in the archipelago of the South Orkney Islands . It is located on the east bank of Cemetery Bay, southeast of Drying Point .
Scientists from the Falkland Islands Dependencies Survey conducted surveys between 1947 and 1950. Aerial photographs were taken by the Royal Navy in 1968. The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named the plane in 2004 after the neighboring graves of Norwegian sailors.
