Centenary (Zimbabwe)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Centenary is a 1175 m high place with about 4,000 inhabitants and a district with about 24,000 inhabitants in the province of Mashonaland Central in Zimbabwe .

Centenary has two schools, a clinic and a military airfield. It has its own water supply from mountain springs, which is to be improved with EU funds. Agriculture, especially tobacco growing, and wood carving are the sources of income in this sparsely populated area. In the years 2002 to 2004 this district experienced floods that destroyed the crops and destroyed the houses.

North of Centenary begins the descent into the Zambezi Valley and with it the wilderness, which was one of the main areas of battle in the civil war. This wilderness can be delimited between the Zambezi Valley and a line between the following places: Nyamapanda , Mount Darwin , Centenary, Mhangura , Karoi , further in the middle between Gokwe and Siabuwa to Dahlia on the Gwayi River.
