Karoi

Karoi , even Urungwe or Hurungwe, is a town in the province of Mashonaland West in Zimbabwe . It has 28,606 inhabitants (2012 census) and is located on the Chinhoyi - Chirundu road on the Zambezi . It is around 1000 meters above sea level and is the capital of the district of the same name.

In Karoi there are elementary and secondary schools (Karoi Primary School, Rydings School and Magunje High School), a hospital, shops and local small-scale industry. Karoi United football club played in the Premier Soccer League .

The area around Karoi is arid and requires irrigation, but it is considered fertile. Wheat, corn, tobacco and soy are grown. The ownership structure and the problems are just as serious as in Gokwe , since the land of the expropriated property of large white farmers has mostly been transferred to higher government officials.

In ten pounds in five locations in the Karoi district are gemstones mined: Alluaudit , Arrojadit , beryl ( aquamarine , emerald , Goshenite , Heliodor ), cassiterite , Elbaite , Euclase , kaolinite , kyanite , mica , topaz , Uvit , Werdingit and Zimbabweit .
