The Central Singapore District (or Central) is one of the five Community Development Councils (CDC) of the city-state of Singapore . With over 970,000 inhabitants, the Central Singapore District is the most populous in the country, almost four fifths of the residents are Chinese .

Central Singapore

It is crossed by the Singapore River and includes the Central Business District as well as Kampong Glam , Chinatown and Little India and is divided into the districts of Ang Mo Kio , Bishan-Toa Payoh , Moulmein-Kallang , Tanjong Pagar , Sengkang West , Whampoa and Radin Mas .

The central district should not be confused with the central region of the regional planning structure of Singapore, with which it partially coincides.
