history

The first plans to build a cement plant in the Karagandy area existed as early as 1933. In April 1946, the Ministry of Economics of the Soviet Union commissioned the GiproCement Institute to build such a plant, designed for a production of 300,000 tons of cement.

Karagandacement production began on September 23, 1953. Another production line was added in 1956. The fourth line started production in November 1958. In 1971 the plant in Aqtau was expanded to include a further production line, which increased the production capacity to one million tons of cement . Line six was added just five years later.

In the mid-1990s , a total of four production lines were shut down. In 1997 the last two remaining production lines finally shut down.

When it was privatized in 1996, Karagandacement was reorganized into a stock corporation and renamed Central Asia Cement on May 15, 1998.

With the beginning of the new millennium, the company's economic boom began. From 1999 to 2001, in addition to one production line, four more were put back into operation. The reactivation of lines five and six are planned. After completion of the expansion measures, the aim is to achieve a production capacity of 2.1 million tons per year.
