Centralbahn AG

The Central Railroad, Inc. , headquartered in Basel is a private railway company in Switzerland . The main business is the implementation of special train journeys with own vehicles. Freight traffic is also handled with our own locomotives. The managing director is the former owner of the Freiburger Eisenbahn-Kurier and former co-owner of the Munich-based Geramond publishing house , Rudolf Josef Wesemann.

The Centralbahn owns 14 of its own locomotives, which come from Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

Incidents

On the evening of October 19, 2019, a fire broke out in a special train from Berlin to Freiburg occupied by fans of SC Freiburg shortly after departure. Four passengers suffered slight smoke poisoning and one wagon burned out completely. The cause of the fire was a defective heating system.
