The Center International Jules-Verne (CIJV) is a scholarly society founded in 1972 and based in Amiens , France. It deals with the work of the writer Jules Verne and until around 2015 was in possession of around 21,000 documents about him.

description

The Center International Jules-Verne was founded on November 18, 1972 by Daniel Compère, who was its president until 1981. A members' meeting was held annually. In 2000, the originally French association internationalized itself due to inquiries from and activities abroad. Until 2009, the association was based in the Maison de Jules Verne in Amiens. In 2005 she renovated the premises on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of Jules Verne's death. The Center International Jules-Verne was entrusted with the management of the house until it was taken over by the Amiens libraries in 2011. The association then took its seat elsewhere in Amiens.

Since April 2015, Bernard Nemitz has headed the Center International Jules-Verne (CIJV). He is the past president of the Université de Picardie Jules Verne in Amiens. With the end of the financial support by the city of Amiens in May 2015, the activities of the CIJV de facto ended. The premises could no longer be maintained, the collection of documents went to the University Library of Amiens, the publication of the Jules Verne Review was discontinued and membership management no longer took place. Only the association's website was revised in 2016 and 2017. Under Nemitz's successor, Marie-Françoise Melmoux-Montaubin, who is also Vice President of the university, the Center received a space in the university library in 2019 to organize meetings and exhibitions relating to Jules Verne.
