The centrotherm International AG (until June 2017: centrotherm photovoltaics AG ), based in Baden-Württemberg Blaubeuren is a German plant manufacturers and service providers of solar technology - and semiconductor industries.
The company develops, manufactures and sells production systems and process technology for the manufacture of solar cells and semiconductors and is also active with various services for customers.
history
The company emerged from the "centrotherm Elektro Anlagen GmbH + Co. KG" founded in 1976. In the 1990s, the company entered the photovoltaic segment and has been one of the leading international providers since 2000. As part of the restructuring of the company, the photovoltaics division was initially run under the name “centrotherm Photovoltaics Solutions GmbH & Co. KG” from 2004 and transferred to the newly founded “centrotherm photovoltaics AG” in 2006.
The slump in the capital goods market in the photovoltaic industry in 2012 and 2013 had a massive impact on the company's sales and earnings. A comprehensive restructuring program was initiated in 2012. It provided for a refocusing on the core areas of crystalline solar cells and semiconductors, while reducing the number of employees.
On July 11, 2012, the company announced that it had filed for bankruptcy protection. On July 12, 2012, the Ulm District Court granted the application to initiate protective shield proceedings (Insolvency Code Section 270b ). The self-administered insolvency proceedings were canceled by the Ulm District Court at the end of May 2013 and the insolvency plan implemented.
Solarpark Blautal has been the new majority shareholder with 90% of the shares since January 2016.

The share was listed in the Prime Standard of the Frankfurt Stock Exchange from October 12, 2007 to the end of February 2013 and was listed in the TecDAX from December 27, 2007 to June 15, 2012 . It was also included in the Photovoltaik Global 30 Index and was listed in the ÖkoDAX until September 21, 2012 . The share was listed in the General Standard of the Frankfurt Stock Exchange between March 2013 and September 2014, after which the company switched to the Entry Standard to save costs .
