history
The name Century 21 derives from the 1962 World's Fair in Seattle , Washington , which was named Century 21 Exposition . Century 21 was founded in 1971 in Orange County , California by two real estate agents Art Bartlett and Marsh Fisher .
The company was bought by the Metropolitan Life Insurance Company in 1984 . In 1995 it became part of HFS, the predecessor of Cendant, under the direction of Robert W. Pittman. In 2006 the spin-off Cendant was created, under whose real estate division Realogy Century 21 Real Estate LLC has operated since then.
Century 21 has been represented in Germany since 2012 and operates 70 locations as of the end of October 2019.
