Cereus albicaulis is a species of plant in the genus Cereus from the cactus family(Cactaceae). Thespecific epithet albicaulis means 'white, light-stemmed'.
description
Cereus albicaulis has a shrubby growth with only a few branches, initially upright, later overhanging and spreading to climbing shoots . The elongated, bluish white, square shoots have a diameter of 1 to 3 centimeters. There are four sharp-edged, only slightly wavy ribs . The small areoles on it are brown. The two to six unequal, needle-like thorns are brown, swollen at their base and up to 2 inches long.
The flowers are white, the elongated, somewhat angular fruits are greyish purple.
Distribution, systematics and endangerment
Cereus albicaulis is common in the Brazilian state of Bahia . The first description as Acanthocereus albicaulis was published in 1920 by Nathaniel Lord Britton and Joseph Nelson Rose . Philipp von Luetzelburg placed them in the genus Cereus in 1923 .
In the Red List of Threatened Species of the IUCN , the species is listed as " Least Concern (LC) ". H. listed as not endangered.
