The Cerro Bayo is a complex volcano in northern Chile .
The time of the last outbreak is unknown. In the southern part of the volcanic complex there is a crater with a diameter of 800 meters. In the younger northern part, along the border with Argentina , there is a smaller crater with a diameter of 400 meters as well as two lava flows that extend north and north-east. Two Dacite lava flows poured out of the 5401 meter high main crater , spreading in a northerly direction and formed in the most recent phase of the volcano's eruptions.
