The Cerro Gaviota (Spanish for seagull hill ) is a 25 m high hill on Livingston Island in the archipelago of the South Shetland Islands . On the west side of Cape Shirreff , the northern end of the John Paul II Peninsula , it rises 110 m north of Punta El Hallazgo .
Scientists of the 45th Chilean Antarctic Expedition (1990–1991) named it after the seagull colony located here.
