history

The Cervecería Centroamericana was founded on February 3, 1886 by the brothers Mariano and Rafael Castillo Córdova in Guatemala. Ten years later, they launched the Gallo lager beer , which today has cult status in Guatemala . In the 1920s, the brothers handed the brewery over to their descendants, who opened new production facilities in 1935 and built the Santa Delfina de Signé church in honor of the company's founders . In 1974 and 1996 the brewery and its brands gave themselves a new look.

Today, the Cervecería Centroamericana ensures the maintenance of 6,500 families and, indirectly, 80,000 other families through its employees. The brewery finances a number of social projects in Guatemala through the Fundación Castillo Córdova .
