Cesco Baseggio
Cesco Baseggio ; actually Francesco Baseggio (born April 13, 1897 in Treviso , † January 22, 1971 in Catania ) was an Italian actor .
Life
Baseggio grew up as the son of a violin professor and a singer and, at a young age, played in an amateur theater under the direction of Gianfranco Giachetti . During the First World War he was head of the soldier thief in Albania for two and a half years ; after his return at the end of the war, he rejoined Giachetti in 1920, who had founded his new ensemble "Ars Veneta". From 1923 to 1926 he was a member of Carlo Micheluzzi's troupe , with whom he brought Shakespeare and Goldoni , Giacinto Gallina and Gino Rocca to the stage. Ten years later he belonged to the Teatro di Venezia , which had an excellent reputation as a stage for the classics and where he celebrated great success.
From 1939 he played as a freelance actor on festival stages and Venetian theaters; Even after the war he was so active that productions under Giorgio Strehler , who used him as Pantalone de'Bisognosi in The Honorable Whore , are remembered . Until well into the 1960s, Shakespeare and Goldoni - he also spoke a documentary about the author - kept the constants of his stage representations, which he enriched with character roles in many films, especially until the end of the Second World War. In the 1960s he was also seen in four television roles.
