Chalter

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The chalter was a Pomeranian coal measure. Hard coals were calculated this way

In Stettin the Chalter was divided into 54 old bushels , after the introduction of the Prussian system of measurement the measure shrank to only 4 bushels. The other dimensions changed like this:

  • 1 chalter = 12 or 13.5 tons (Prussian) = 148.620 Parisian cubic inches = 2964 8/9 liters

The Swedish coal measure was called Chalder (spelling with "d") and had 20 tons.
