from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Champions on Ice is an American figure skating show that includes professional and amateur figure skaters.

history

In 1969 the American Holiday-on-Ice runner Tom Collins founded the show. Although it started under very modest conditions, figure skaters like JoJo Starbuck , Kenneth Shelley , the Russian Olympians Lyudmila and Oleg Protopopov , Janet Lynn and Tim Wood were represented at the beginning .

The show found great resonance in 1980 after the Olympic Winter Games in Lake Placid . The number of performances and figure skaters has doubled in a row and the performances of Champions on Ice were also sold out in the larger ice rinks. Since 2002, the annual tour has covered 85 different American cities. In 2003 the book “Champions on Ice Twenty Five Years of the Worlds Finest Figure Skating” by Christine Brennan was published. The tours now extend to Europe and Asia.
