Chandler Rice

Chandler Rice (born September 7, 1994 in Louisville , Ohio ) is an American softball player . She plays the position of infielder for the Akron Racers in the National Pro Fastpitch (NPF). She wears jersey number 21.

Career

Rice played softball at the University of Toledo for the Toledo Rockets from 2014 to 2017 . In her first year, she started in all 50 games, scoring 59 hits and 27 runs in 147 strokes, with her batting average of .401 leading the team. She was elected to the First Team All- MAC . In 2015 she started 56 of 56 games and led the team with 60 hits and 33 run batted in. As a junior she was again elected to the First Team All-MAC , after leading the team with 26 batted runs and leading the team with five home runs. In her senior year she scored 76 hits (.392), 49 runs, 17 doubles, 2 triples, 12 home runs, 39 batted-in runs, 132 total bases, a slugging percentage of .680, an on-base percentage of .680, with 194 strokes .454, 21 stolen bases and a fielding percentage of .992. Therefore she was chosen for the second base in the first team All-MAC . She ended her career with the Rockets with a slugging percentage of .531, the best value in team history, a batting average of .355, 21 home runs, 112 runs batted in, and 132 runs.

On May 27, 2017, she signed a one-year contract with Akron Racers . She became the first Rockets player to play softball professionally. In her first season, she scored a hit, two runs and a batted in run in 23 games.
