Anta da Pedra da Orca
The Anta da Pedra da Orca ( German "Stone of the Orca" - also called Anta do Rio Torto) is an Anta in the municipality of Rio Torto in the hamlet of the same name, about 6.0 km west of Gouveia , near the national road 17 and the Rio Mondego in Guarda district in the Centro in Portugal .
Anta is the Portuguese name for around 5000 megalithic structures or dolmens , which were built during the Neolithic in the west of the Iberian Peninsula by the successors of the cardial or imprint culture .
The Anta da Pedra da Orca is about 3.0 meters high. Your original hill can still be made out. The gang stones have been carefully adjusted. The bearing stones of the chamber contain many quartz crystals . A broad band of quartz running across it was an important material in the eyes of megalithic plant builders .
