Chanina ben Pappai
R. Chanina ben Pappai (so in the Babylonian Talmud, Aramaization of Pappos ; in the Palestinian Talmud mostly Chinena , in the Midrashim mostly called Chanina b. Pappa ) was a third generation Amora in Palestine.
He was a student of Samuel b. Nachman , often involved in debates with Simon ben Pazzi , worked alongside Abbahu in Caesarea , temporarily also in Babylonia.
Chanina ben Pappai was glorified several times in legends.
