The Channelsea Iceland is a man-made island in Channelsea River in the London Borough of Newham .

It was laid out in the 11th century for the Abbey Mill.

The island was acquired in 1996 by the Abbey Mills Riverine Center Trustees, a Muslim organization. A mixed use was sought, the center of which was to be a mosque, which was to be on land southeast of the island.

A building application was submitted in 2012, which was rejected by Newham Council. In the denial, the island was referred to as a haven for wildlife and has been pristine for many years.
