Charles A. Marshall
Charles A. Marshall (born July 21, 1898 in California , † January 8, 1985 in Apple Valley , California) was an American cameraman who was specialized in aerial photography as such.
Life
During the First World War , Marshall served as a flight instructor in the US Army. After the war he devoted himself to camera work. From 1929 to 1945 he was involved in various film productions as a cameraman for aerial shots. Marshall worked with a camera that was developed by Carl Ethan Akeley .
Together with his colleagues Elmer Dyer and James Wong Howe , Dyer was nominated in 1944 for the camera work on the film Into the Japanese Sun for an Oscar in the category Best Cinematography .
After World War II , Marshall filmed the explosions of some of the atomic bomb tests on the Eniwetok atoll for the United States Air Force .
Marshall was married.
