Charles Beitz

Charles R. Beitz (born July 20, 1949 ) is an American philosopher and professor of political philosophy in the Department of Politics at Princeton University . Since 2009 he has also been Director of the University Center for Human Values ​​there .

Beitz graduated from Colgate University with a bachelor's degree before earning his PhD from Princeton. After teaching at Swarthmore College and Bowdoin College , he returned to Princeton University in 2001. In 2008 he was accepted into the American Academy of Arts and Sciences .

His research interests are mainly in the political theory , the theory of democracy , the justice theory and the theory of human rights .
