Charles F. Haanel

Charles Francis Haanel (born May 22, 1866 in Ann Arbor , † November 27, 1949 ) was an American philosopher and author in the field of the New Spirit movement , as well as a businessman . He became known through his book The Master Key System (1912), which postulates the creative power of thoughts.

life and career

The son of Hugo Paul Haanel and Emeline Cordelia Haanel (née Fox), Charles Francis and his family moved to St. Louis as a child . The Haanel family is of Swedish descent, but lived in Silesia (Prussia) before emigrating to Canada and later to the United States. Charles F. Haanel was the fifth of six children in his family, according to author Walter B. Stevens of History of the Fourth City . According to the biography on Haanel.com, six more children were born after him, of which only five reached adulthood.

Employed as an office boy at the 'National Enameling & Stamping Company' in 1886, he earned his living in increasing employment for 15 years before he became self-employed as an author and businessman.

The Master Key System is a book about personal development that promises to push the limits of what is possible (health, wealth, etc.) into nothing. In 1933 the book had sold 200,000 copies.

Charles F. Haanel was a successful businessman with various pillars. Among other things, he was president of the 'Continental Commercial Company', the 'Sacramento Valley Improvement Company' and the 'Mexico Gold and Silver Mining Company'.

Haanel died of heart failure in his apartment on November 27, 1949 at the age of 83. After his death his body was cremated; his ashes were buried in Bellefontaine Cemetery in St. Louis.
