Charles James Boykett (* 1871 ; † August 20, 1948 ) was Secretary General of the Railway Commissioner of the South Australian Railways from 1916 until his retirement in May 1936 .

Life

Charles James Boykett, who was born in 1871, was educated at Whinham College in North Adelaide . He entered the public service as a cadet in 1887, was appointed chief secretary in 1909 and general secretary of the railway commissioner in 1916.

During the First World War he was appointed by the Commonwealth government for special assignments related to the enrollment of special workers for Great Britain and France and in 1917 he was appointed honorary lieutenant colonel in the engineer and railway staff corps of the Australian armed forces.

He lived on Durham Street in Glenelg , Adelaide , until he died August 20, 1948.
