Charles Ssekyaaya

Charles Ssekyaaya (born April 11, 1994 in Mulago ) is a Ugandan weightlifter .

Career

Ssekyaaya was voted Uspa Weightlifter of the Year in Uganda in 2011 . In March 2012 he received the March Nile / Uspa award due to a journalist election . At the African Championships held in Nairobi in March 2012 , he won overall silver in weightlifting behind the Nigerian Fadodul Sola as well as gold and bronze in the disciplines of pushing and snatching.

Ssekyaaya was part of the Ugandan team for the 2012 Summer Olympics , for which he spent six months in the Olympic Solidarity Training Center in Colorado Springs . In London he started in the class up to 62 kg. There he finished 13th in the final ranking with 105 kg in snatch (14th place) and 130 kg in jerk (13th place). In 2012, the 1.59 meter tall athlete weighed 61 kg in competition.
