Charles Virolleaud
Jean Charles Gabriel Virolleaud (born July 2, 1879 in Barbezieux , Charente department , † December 17, 1968 in Paris ) was a French orientalist , archaeologist , religious scholar and writer.
Charles Virolleaud dealt among other things with the scientific evaluation of the finds of Ras Shamra as well as the religion of the Shiites . He took part in the deciphering of the cuneiform script . In 1941 he was elected to the Académie des Inscriptions et Belles-Lettres .
