Charles McMoran Wilson, 1st Baron Moran , MC (born November 10, 1882 in Skipton , Yorkshire , † April 12, 1977 in Newton Valence , Hampshire ) was a British medic and nobleman . Wilson achieved fame as the personal physician of Sir Winston Churchill and as the author of a highly regarded memory book about Churchill's last years.

Wilson acted since 1940/41 as personal physician to the politician Sir Winston Churchill, then British Prime Minister. In 1943, Wilson was raised to the nobility as Baron Moran in recognition of his services - he played a major role in the healing of Churchill, who had suffered from severe, almost fatal pneumonia .

Up until Churchill's death, Wilson remained a constant companion and confidante of the aging statesman. In his several hundred-page memoirs "The Struggle for Survival" ( "The Struggle for Survival" ), Wilson records numerous incidents from Churchill's last years: He recorded numerous Bonmonts and anecdotes of Churchill, documented his opinions on more and less significant events and People of the time (such as Churchill's opinion that Konrad Adenauer was the greatest German chancellor since Bismarck) and Churchill's reading (including George Orwell's 1984 ).

Between 1920 and 1945, Wilson served as dean of the St. Mary's Hospital Medical School and oversaw the renovation of the facility's premises. In addition, since 1941 he was president of the "Royal College of Physicians".
