Charlie Cardona is a Colombian salsa musician .

Career

Charlie Cardona was born in Bogotá on July 8th . His father was a music teacher and promoted his son's musical talent. In 1985, after completing his bachelor's degree, he made his debut as a musician in the group La Máxima de Mañungo. In 1987 he recorded an album with salsa and tropical songs with the band Fuerza Caribe. In 1990 he received an invitation from Jairo Varela to represent the resigned singer Tito Gómez in his band Grupo Niche . His appearance in one of the most famous and popular salsa bands in Latin America became a baptism of fire for Charlie Cardona. Cardona moved to Cali and had great success with the songs of the Grupo Niche like "Hagamos Lo Que Diga El Corazón", "Mi Pueblo Natal", "Duele Más" and "Un Alto En El Camino". In 1994 Grupo Niche was awarded the title of best salsa group of the year. Cardona later began his solo career and signed a recording deal with WEA Latina in Miami . His musical style is described as very melodic, rhythmic, with the inclusion of typical Colombian style elements. His most famous hits include "De Amor ya no se muere", "Antes de ti", "Te pido la paz", "Para olvidarla" and "Te quiero tanto".
