Charu Chandra Biswas

Charu Chandra Biswas ( Marathi : चारुचंद्र बिस्वास ; born April 21, 1888 in Calcutta , British India ; † December 9, 1960 ) was an Indian lawyer and politician of the Indian National Congress (INC), who was Minister of Justice between 1952 and 1957 and was Minister for Minorities of India.

Life

Charu Chandra Biswas, son of Shri Ashutosh Biswas, completed a law degree after attending school and was admitted as a barrister after graduating with a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) . A post-graduate studies , he graduated with a Master of Arts from (MA) and in 1930 for the Indian National Congress (INC) member of the Central Legislative Assembly (Central Legislative Assembly) of British India , which he belonged to the 1937th After India gained independence from the United Kingdom on August 15, 1947, he became Minister of State in the State Department in 1950 and held this position until May 1952. On April 3, 1952, he became a member of the Rajya Sabha , the upper house of the Indian Parliament , for West Bengal , and was a member of this until April 2, 1960.

On May 13, 1952, Biswas took over the offices of Minister for Justice and Minister for Minorities in the Nehru II cabinet and held them until April 1957. At the same time he was between February 1953 and November 1954 as Leader of the House and head of the government faction in the upper house and from 1953 to 1957 chairman of the Committee of Privileges of the Rajya Sabha. His marriage to Shrimati Suhasini Biswas had six daughters.
