The Chase Tower (formerly Bank One Tower , also Valley National Bank Building or Valley Bank Center ) is a building in Phoenix and at 147 meters (483 ft ) the tallest building in the US state of Arizona .

The building, regarded as a skyscraper , was designed by Welton Becket and Associates in cooperation with Guirey, Srnka, Arnold & Sprinkle . When it was completed in 1972, it was used exclusively by the locally-based National Valley Bank . In 1993 the company Bank One acquired the building, after which it was renamed Bank One Tower a year later . In 2005, the building was renamed Chase Tower after Chase Manhattan Bank acquired the building. In March 2007, it was bought by Crystal River Capital for $ 166.93 million.

The height to the roof is 147.22 meters (483 feet). The Chase Tower has 40 floors, which were only accessible up to the 39th floor. There was a viewing platform on the 39th floor, which was also closed. Thus the building has only 38 usable floors.

The future and the eventual collapse of the building after a fictional disappearance of humanity is shown in a sequence of Future Without People .
