Chelsea drugstore
The Chelsea drugstore was a permanent fixture in the London swinging sixties scene of the 60s and 70s. The building complex opened in July 1968 at number 49 King's Road in London and replaced the White Hart Pub.
The drugstore consisted of bars, food stalls, pharmacy, newspaper kiosk, record shop, and small clothes shops and extended over three floors. The hallmarks were the modern glass and aluminum facade as well as long opening times seven days a week. The young women in purple catsuits who delivered goods with eccentrically designed motorcycles were also popular .
Due to protests from local residents, access to King's Road was initially closed in May 1971 and the entire drugstore was closed a short time later. McDonald's is now using the building.
